Common Questions and Answers for Laying Hen Nutritional Formulas (Nutrition Section)
What Nutritional Substances Compose Premix?

Mainly composed of basic nutritional substances and functional nutritional substances. Basic nutritional substances: Amino acids, vitamins, trace elements, salt, choline, dicalcium phosphate. Functional nutritional substances: Phytase, compound enzymes, probiotics, antioxidants, carriers (stone powder, zeolite powder, rice bran, etc.).

How to Calculate Energy and Protein?
  • Refers to the energy and crude protein of all raw materials in the large formula.
  • Calculation method: Corn energy x corn proportion + soybean meal (miscellaneous meal) energy x soybean meal proportion + (or bran energy) x bran proportion.
  • Calculation: 3240 kcal x 0.64 + 2300 x 0.23 = 2602.2 kcal.
What Are the Differences Between Soybean Meal, Cottonseed Meal, and Rapeseed Meal as Protein Feeds?

Soybean meal has high crude protein content, roughly between 40%-48%, high essential amino acid content, reasonable composition. Lysine content is highest among cake meals, at 2.4%-2.8%, methionine content at 0.5%-0.7%. Rapeseed meal crude protein content between 34%-38%, amino acid composition features high methionine (second only to sesame cake meal), also high lysine, especially high digestible sulfur-containing amino acids, but low arginine. However, rapeseed meal contains thioglucosides, erucic acid, tannins, phytic acid. Rapeseed meal addition generally 8%-10%, rapeseed meal has higher calcium, selenium, iron, magnesium, manganese, zinc than soybean meal, phosphorus is twice that of soybean meal, complementary when used with soybean meal. Cottonseed meal protein content around 44%, lysine content only 1.3%-1.5%, half of soybean meal. Cottonseed meal contains large amounts of gossypol and cyclopropene fatty acids, cottonseed meal usage below 5%.
